Beachwood football team earns big win over West Geauga, but still falls short of playoffs

The Beachwood football team finally got its break-out victory that the program has longed for, but the Bison still missed out on the playoffs by a narrow margin. Beachwood (7-3) defeated West Geauga, 22-7, Friday at Howell Stadium at West Geauga High School. Topping a traditional Division II power, even if the Wolverines are 4-6 this season, was big, but not quite big enough as the Bison are ninth in the Division IV, region 13 playoff rankings. They narrowly finished behind Ashtabula Edgewood (6-3), which is the No. 8 seed and will face top seed Brookfield (10-0) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Brookfield High School.  Full Story »

Beachwood football team grinds out victory over West Geauga

CHESTERLAND - Corey Jones led Beachwood with two short touchdowns runs as the Bison defeated West Geauga, 22-7, in a Chagrin Valley Conference crossover game Friday night at Howell Stadium at West Geauga High School.  Full Story »

Kenston football team has must win game against Aurora after losing to West Geauga

The West Geauga football team came close a week earlier, but this time the Wolverines finished the deal. One week after nearly taking down rival Chagrin Falls, the Wolverines pulled off its upset bid over another rival, Kenston, as West G won, 21-17, Friday at Howell Stadium at West Geauga High School. Kenston fell to 6-3, 5-1 as the loss ends the Bombers' six-game win streak. It also pulls the Bombers into a tie in first in the division with Aurora (8-1, 5-1) and Chagrin Falls (8-1, 5-1). Kenston hosts the Greenmen at 7 p.m. Friday. A victory would assure the Bombers at least a share of the division title. Chagrin Falls plays at Perry (4-5, 3-3).  Full Story »
