Brittney Jackson of Laurel School signed her national letter of intent on Wednesday to continue her volleyball career at Grand Valley State University.Jackson, a senior, was the Gators' captain and a four-year starter. She was named to the second team All Independent School League as a freshman and was on the first team the past three years.
Jackson also was an honorable mention All-district player her senior year.
Laurel went 17-5 this past season, which was a school record for victories, as the Gators advanced to the district tournament.
Jackson was named the team MVP in both 2007 and 2008 as she recorded 189 kills in 2007 to lead the team. She finished her career with 400 kills.
Jackson has also been named captain of the track team. She was second in the state in the 100-meter race at the state meet in Division III. In 2007, she won the state championship in the 100.
Jackson is also on the basketball team.
Grand Valley State is located in Allendale, Mich., and won the Division II national championship in 2005 under coach Deanne Scanlon.
