Hurricanes Prepare For Independence

As the remnants of Hurricane Isaac are forcasted to hit the area this Labor Day weekend, the Brooklyn Hurricanes are preparing to take on the Blue Devils of Independence.

While the rains Monday made for a soggy practice, the 'canes did not let that interfer with their preparations for this week's contest. Escaping last week almost injury free, the team will be ready for the Blue Devils.

Independence returns twelve seniors from last years squad and has hopes of returning to post season play. Standing in the way is Brooklyn's potent passing game led by quarterback Deric Martin and his wide receiving corps of Alex Sommers, Andrew Grose, Peter Tansi, and Joey Gray. Kenny Squires will lead the ground attack.

Defensively, Brad McCormick leads a talented defense anchored by a linebacking group that has a nose for the ball. Linebackers include Mike Jakubecz, Tom Lavelle, Nick Hernandez,and Joey Gray. Dennis Clark at defensive end will also make his presence known.

The game kick's off at 7:00PM at the Brooklyn Athletic Complex this Friday.
