Canton Fawcett Stadium and Massillon Paul Brown Tiger Stadium, two of the top high school football stadiums, will again play host to the six OHSAA Championship games December 4 and 5 in Stark County.
This season marks the 20th year Stark County will host some of the best high school football in the country, and fans can start planning their championship football weekend now. The six-game ticket book is currently on sale for $48.00 and includes one ticket for each of the six championship games. Official programs, as well as parking passes for cars and motorhomes, are also available for purchase on the Stark County football finals website.
This season Fawcett Stadium will play host to the Division V championship game on Friday, December 4, and the Division IV and I championship games on Saturday, December 5. The stadium was voted the top high school football stadium for the second straight year by ESPN.com rankings, and is also home to the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame game.
Paul Brown Stadium was ranked No. 10 in the nation by ESPN.com rankings and will host the Division III and II state final games on Friday, December 4 and the Division VI game on Saturday, December 5.
Rob Steinberg, Sports Promotions Manager for the Canton Stark County Convention & Visitors' Bureau, is one of the local organizers for the football finals.
"Being able to attend all six games will give the fan a better understanding of why this is 'High School Football's Greatest Weekend,'" said Steinberg. "It is an opportunity to watch top athletes in six great football games,"
The championships are no longer an event for just the teams playing; all football fans are encouraged to attend the games.
"It is the biggest event of the year for our area," said Steinberg. "We have roughly 60,000 fans attend and there is still seating available to be had in most cases, and there is not a bad seat in either stadium."
