Sophomore Olivia Young scored within the first four minutes of this non-conference match and it turned out to be the game winner as Brunswick defeated visting Avon Lake 1-0. Young picked up a loose ball and found herself unmarked near the right side of the Avon Lake goal and drilled it home from there.
The Brunswick defense led by sophomore Erin Calhoun with 3 saves was able to keep the Shoregals off the board all night.
Avon Lake goalie Amy Crooks recorded a career high 7 saves in stopping any further goals by the Blue Devils.
In JV action, the Shoregals were able to prevail over the Blue Devils 1-0 behind a penalty kick by Marisa Dzwonczyk. Lindsay Butler earned the shutout for the Shoregals with 3 saves. With the win the JV Shoregals upped their record to 6-2-1 on the season.
