TWINSBURG - The Chagrin Falls offense might be the hottest in the state right now as the Tigers raced past Woodridge, 58-28, in a Division IV regional final on Saturday night at Twinsburg High School.
The Tigers, who are undefeated at 13-0, will play in their first state semifinal at 7 p.m. Saturday at a site yet to be determined. The Bulldogs, who made their first playoff appearance this season, end the campaign at 10-3. Chagrin Falls defeated Woodridge, 32-26, earlier in the season.
The star of the many stars for the Tigers was quarterback Chris Trinetti. He completed 9 of 11 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. Trinetti also rushed 15 times for 130 yards and four touchdowns.
Trinetti's heroics come one week after throwing for five touchdowns in the Tigers' regional semifinal victory over Cortland Lakeview.
Trinetti was one of three Chagrin Falls' players to rush for more than 100 yards as fullback Bobby Winkelman gained 103 yards on 11 attempts and receiver Marc Geraci picked up 101 yards on six attempts. Geraci also caught three passes for 77 yards. He caught two touchdowns and rushed for another from 49 yards out.
Cam Turner of Chagrin Falls also caught three passes for 83 yards.
Overall, Chagrin Falls had 618 yards of total offense as the Tigers earned 25 first downs.
