The Cardinals made the trip West to the beautiful Laurel Butler campus and found the Gator's attack to be too hot to handle in a 3-0 loss. Laurel tallied a significant advantage in shots on goal but were repeatedly denied by the Cardinal keeper who kept the game close with multiple athletic saves. The scoring began when junior striker Sydney Riddle was taken down in the box from behind on a break-away which resulted in a successful PK for Riddle and a red card for the Mooney defender. Later in the half Riddle would strike again after a series of outstanding passes between Junior midfielder Mea Mastroanni and Freshman forward Natalie Kosir. The second half had plenty of action but only resulted in one final goal on a cross from Riddle to Sophmore Nicole Felice who was one of the few to beat the Mooney goal keeper. The Gator defense again did not allow a goal and were led by sophmore Michelle DeLaney who won several individual battles against Cardinal forwards. Senior goal keeper Rachel Piccus, who completed her second consecutive shut-out, was tested only a few times including a remarkable jab to knock away a point-blank header early on. Laurel continues their season against visiting Orange H.S. on Tuesday evening.
