Lots of quarterbacks can throw for big yards. Logan's Patrick Angle can do that, too. But how many seldom make a mistake?

Angle, a 6-foot-1 senior, has set or tied a number of school passing records this season and for his career.

So far this season, Angle has completed 58 of 80 attempts (73 percent) for eight touchdowns without an interception. In each of the past two weeks, he has completed a school-record 15 consecutive passes in each game.

In a 24-21 win over Pickerington North two weeks ago, he hit on 15 straight passes at one point and finished 27 of 34 for 252 yards and three touchdowns, leading the way on a drive in the final two minutes that resulted in Derek Montgomery's game-winning 37-yard field goal with 7 seconds left.

Then last week against Columbus Hamilton Township, Angle connected on all 15 passes he attempted for 252 yards and four more scores before sitting out after the first six offensive series of what would become a 49-7 win.

He's perfect in one other regard. With him under center a year ago, Logan went 10-0 in the regular season. They're 3-0 this year.

PASSING FANCY: McComb's Mason Roth, pressed into action because of an injury to starting QB Andrew Dee, had 357 yards of offense, hitting 17 of 28 passes for 213 yards and adding 16 carries for 144 yards, running for two scores and passing for two in a 45-6 win over Van Buren; Elmwood's Reid Rothenbuhler hit 26 of 40 passes for 316 yards and 2 TDs in a 14-6 win over North Baltimore; St. Henry's Brad Stahl completed 16 of 19 passes for 228 yards and three TDs and also added two touchdown runs in a 42-0 win over New Bremen; Sherwood Fairview and Archbold combined for 753 passing yards in Fairview's 47-37 win, with Brock Mosier hitting 28 of 40 for 405 yards for Fairview and Garrett Morton completing 27 of 40 for 346 yards for Archbold; Ashland's Marcus Fuller completed 16 of 29 passes for 406 yards and five TDs (8, 60, 46, 10, 65) in a 45-7 win over Tallmadge; and Fredericktown's Thomas Hinkle was 17 of 24 for 356 yards and three TDs and rushed for 43 yards in a 42-14 win over North Robinson Colonel Crawford.

RUNNING THE NUMBERS: Will Stocker carried 45 times for 336 yards and four TDs in Cincinnati Turpin's 34-14 win over Indian Hill; Canton McKinley's Bryce Wilder ran for 297 yards last week, tied for fourth most in school history; reigning Mr. Football Erick Howard of North Canton Hoover carried the ball a whopping 50 times in a 41-20 win over previously unbeaten Lexington, rushing for 277 yards and three TDs (29, 12, 2); Carey's Logan Norden had 225 yards rushing on 26 carries and scored on two 1-yard runs in a 31-0 win over Willard; Kyle Puschel had 280 yards rushing (fourth most in school history) and three TDs in St. Marys win against previously unbeaten Lima Bath, scoring on runs of 91, 75 and 61 yards (all 360 of the Roughies' yards came on the ground); Cincinnati Anderson's Brandon Bornhauser rushed 10 times for 207 yards and four TDs in a 63-14 win over Boone County (Ky.); and Ashland Crestview's Loren Hulit rushed for 161 yards and five TDs (11, 15, 20, 3, 8) on 15 carries in a 49-7 win over Lucas.

ECONOMIZING: Ironton has been getting a lot out of a little. In a 39-6 win over Gallipolis, FB Keith Wetzel had 178 yards on just 12 carries and scored twice. In a 45-0 win over Russell (Ky.), Tres Wilks ran 4 times for 138 yards including a 91-yard TD run and returned punts 64 and 75 yards for scores.

RETIRING NO. 44: Norwood retired the jersey of Marc Edwards, a former Ohio Mr. Football, at ceremonies Friday. Edwards also played RB at Notre Dame and in the NFL with four teams, winning a Super Bowl ring with New England. At Norwood, Edwards rushed for 6,001 career yards and 73 TDs.

MR. (ALMOST) EVERYTHING: Despite rushing for 245 yards on 48 carries and scoring on runs of 1, 2, 12 and 73 yards, Madison RB Miles Iverson was unable to help his team win in a 31-28 double-overtime setback to Perry. When he wasn't running for big yardage and scores, he completed 4 of 7 passes for 58 yards.

NOTEWORTHY: Tolsia (W.Va.) ran 67 plays to just 36 for Fairland, but the Dragons made the most of their plays, rolling up 615 total yards in a 52-14 win; Hicksville's Logan Battershell has 574 yards rushing and hasn't been held under 171 yet; Liberty Center rallied from a 20-7 third-quarter deficit to beat Metamora Evergreen 21-20, giving head coach Rex Lingruen his 200th career victory; Middletown is 3-0 for the first time since 1992; Apple Creek Waynedale opened the season with two shutouts, but then lost 50-34 to Wooster Triway; Cincinnati Elder beat Louisville (Ky.) Trinity 26-7, as Doug Ramsey became the Panthers' all-time winningest coach, upping his record to 112-35 including D-I state titles in 2002-3; Heath Jackson pulled in eight passes for 159 yards and two TDs to help Ada to a 56-28 win over Columbus Grove; and Coal Grove's Boo Woods returned a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown and had an 80-yard scoring run in a 36-28 win over Lucasville Valley.
