OhioHSsports.com awarded $2,000 in scholarships to four worthy Ohio student athletes on Friday, June 19, during the 17th Annual OHSAA Scholarship Banquet in Columbus, Ohio.
New Albany's Molly Dengler, Newark Catholic's Bryson Wade, Creston Norwayne's Molly Hanzie and Archbishop Hoban's Mary Reilly each were awarded $500 towards their college education for their hard work on the field of play and in the classroom.
“Honoring these outstanding young people is a tremendous way for the OHSAA to close out each school year,” said OHSAA Commissioner Daniel B. Ross. “Their achievements are truly amazing and should give everyone confidence that our future is in great hands. I also want to salute the parents and school personnel who played such an important role in the successes these students enjoyed and the OHSAA Foundation and our corporate sponsors who have generously helped finance the scholarships.”
The OHSAA honored 54 scholar-athletes in all - capping off a tremendous year in high school sports.

Molly Dengler (New Albany)
Molly finished tops in her class at New Albany High School with a 4.0 GPA. She lettered four times in swimming, three times in cross country and once in track. She qualified for the state swimming tournament all four years and won the 200 medley last winter. She also earned all-league honors in both swimming and cross country. Molly will major in biology at Columbia University.
Bryason Wade (Newark Catholic)
Bryson earned 12 letters as a member of the cross country, wrestling and track teams at Newark Catholic High School. He competed in both cross country and track state tournaments. Bryson picked up all-league honors in both sports as well. He has a 3.71 GPA and will double major in pre-medicine and Spanish at the University of Dayton.
Molly Hanzie (Creston Norwayne)
Molly was tops in her class at Creston Norwayne High School and earned 11 varsity letters. She was a three-time all-league and all-district performer in basketball, a three-time all-league performer in track, and twice in volleyball. She also qualified for the state track meet twice. Molly has a 4.0 GPA and will study accounting at Malone University.
Mary Reilly (Archbishop Hoban)
Mary graduated from Akron Archbishop Hoban High School with a 4.0 GPA. She was a four-year letterwinner in soccer. Hoban's soccer team reached the state tournament in each of her final three seasons. Mary will study to be a physician assistant at Gannon University.
